My Birthday Sea-lebration in Coron Palawan

I've been planning to go to Coron after my solo trip in El Nido two years ago. Never had a chance to go last year because I had a series of out of the country trip. Lucky enough to go with my friends Rod, Carissa and Neil as we always have this yearly out of town trip. Our first trip was on the Apo Island in Dumaguete that I haven't blogged yet, but Rod did here: 5 Reasons To Visit a Stormy Apo Island The squad is planning to go to another destination next year crossing our fingers because the airfare going there is expensive.

It was great to finally spend my birthday in paradise! Sharing you some photos from my Instagram @jewelclicks for now. I have to catch up with a lot of backlogs in my blog. Forgive me.

Flytpack My New Travel Buddy

Hello everyone! I just got back from my Japan trip alone. Yes, another solo trip in an Asian country. What's new? Right? If you are following me on instagram: @jewelclicks you'll see my updates. Just like my previous trips in Singapore and Thailand, I also have friends based in Japan for more than five years and fluent in speaking in Japanese, gosh! I am so lucky to have them.

Manila - Narita - Osaka

Narita Airport Terminal 3 flying to Osaka

"You are so brave to travel alone in a non-English country."

An agent from a travel agency told me this and I was like "okay, then what?" I was confident to travel alone because I found a new travel buddy to be with me. I ended up not booking with them and decided to go DIY for my itinerary.

Unlike my previous trips I had difficulties on navigating destinations that I would like to go from train stations down to the name of the streets.

Backstory:

When I was in Singapore, I had a SIM card to text my friends for directions. I know less hassle, but I might disturb them and annoyed them with questions ended up receiving a response of "Jewel, you will not get lost here in Singapore."

In my Thailand trip, when I went to Grand Palace alone, I had to search for it from the place I was staying before going out, then download offline maps that didn't work and take down notes from my friend on what to ride and how much it will cost and other than that I have to figure it out myself by getting a map displayed in their train station in Bangkok.

My trip to Japan is exciting. I was supposed to go with my cousin, unfortunately he cancelled it. Good thing I found Flytpack. I was thinking to subscribe a mobile data from my network, which will cost me PHP550/day and that is a big NO for me. I don't want to scream when I received my bill. Nobody wants that.

Meet Flytpack - your wifi router travel buddy!

Use my promo code: FPJewel and get PHP100 off your next booking!

Affordable and Unlimited Data Access

For Japan it will cost you PHP240/day with unlimited internet access. Really affordable as I go to check and go online whenever I am in trains and navigating the place I rent via Airbnb.

Portable Charger

I only have a Huawei P9 phone with me for taking photos and browsing my social networking sites. I didn't worry about my battery life while traveling because I can charge it using the wifi router, isn't amazing guys?!

Hassle Free

It can fit in your pocket of your coat or sling bag. So slim, no need to worry about the space. :)

Connectivity

You can connect up to five devices, since I am alone, all data is mine. HAHAHA :D

New Travel Buddy is Love

Contact Friends via Messenger

I had no issues on contacting my friends in Osaka, Tokyo and Narita because I am online all day! So I met them all and catch up with dinner and a tour around the city.

Social Media Updates

I loved sharing photos with my family and friends on what's happening in my travel. I receive messages asking guides in Japan and how much I spend, who's taking my photos and what internet I am using because I am always online.

Google Maps

I am so done with the offline maps, I got lost many times, but who cares! I was confident that I will find the place I rented in Airbnb in Tokyo and the hostel I booked in Osaka. I also politely asked Japanese people too, just to make sure. HEHE

I got lost in Namba

The biggest station in Tokyo

How to rent Flytpack?

Me looking tired traveling since 5:20 AM

As easy as 1-2-3 go to their website: www.flytpack.com book and pay online. The router will be delivered to you a day before your flight and will collect a day after you back from your trip.

Easy peasy huh? Now that my secret is out! If you are planning your out of the country trip soon bring Flytpack as your travel buddy. :)

Top Things that Photo Blogging Has Done to Change Me

When I started blogging the only thing I thought of is that I want to document or write everything memorable in my life. It's like a personal diary with twists: it's posted online and with photos.

I thought that expressing my feelings and my thoughts randomly is cool, not until I wanted to change the way I post my experiences. It’s always good to share the downside of your life and how to overcome it, but it would be better if you could share something that can inspire others.

About Jewel Clicks

I have a camera, I have a view, Ugh! I click the button of my camera.

Jewel Clicks is a photo blog I started in 2011. I came up with the name by combining my first name “Jewel” and “clicks” because I love clicking the button of my camera. I thought it would be great to share the photos I have taken in a blog. Multiply and i.PH was already dying that time.

I posted more photos of my life experiences and share the story visually and wrote some short stories about the photos. I talked about about travel, food and dining, lifestyle and events.

I believe that you don’t need an expensive camera to take good pictures.

"If you want change, do it! "

Walking the Wire Between Work and Life

(Struggle was real Soul Surfing in Siargao)

One of the things that I share in my blog is how millennials like me can enjoy their lives.

We all have to deal with responsibilities, difficulties and struggles in life, however you don’t have to mop around when dealing with them, preventing yourself from enjoying your life, instead you can choose to do things that you wanted to do for a long time now. For me, that meant pursuing my travel goals.

"Leave to Live"

I started traveling last 2013 when I said “yes” spontaneously to my friend and hopped into the ferry going to Bohol. Since then, I realized that it is possible to go to places you’ve never been to once in a while.  Since then I always leave to live. As a blogger posting my travel diaries online inspire others to take a break from work and to breathe, relax and enjoy.

(read my first trip in Bohol)

Photo Blogging Aftermath

One of my most memorable travel experiences is when we went to Bantayan Island three months after Typhoon Yolanda hit. It was really a great change for me personally because as a blogger I was able to share about the situation in the island- that it is safe to go there and that all of the beach resorts are business as usual. Aside from that, we were able to help their local tourism.

Adventures with a Touch of Local Communities

Another change started when I decided to go on solo travels. The idea of a perfect travel is to have a big budget to spend. Oh well, not anymore as there are travel organizers who offer affordable rates and accept solo travelers or joiners to participate in the tour. The aim is to help the local community of our destination from food, accommodation, tour guide and buying local products.

( Had fun with Brandon my tour guide in El Nido, Palawan)

Children of Kalinga Village

As a blogger it is a great deed to share the experiences to others that “you just didn’t go there, you lived there”. I love interacting with locals and getting to know more about their culture.

Short and Simple Questions

Finally for the first time I will share these!

Here are some messages from friends, people who've seen my post / video blog and people I met online and then became friends.

Jewel Clicks Now

Sharing valuable, fun, and informative content on your blog will leads you to receiving questions from friends living abroad and friends who are planning to visit one of the places you’ve been to. I always love answering their questions giving them tips and advice, and being  their virtual tour guide whenever they need to. It feels good that I help promote tourism and local communities in my own little way.

Have a great day everyone!

Travel Diary - Hello Singapore

YEY! Finally first trip abroad after two years!

When my friend Jaz posted in our group chat to go to Singapore - I said YES! Because I really wanted to go back to Singapore with just leisure and not work and I want to go to Universal Studios and have fun there! I don't usually go to theme parks when I travel because I travel solo on most of my trips abroad.

We booked our trip with a Travel Agency and we submitted and complied with all the requirements such as Singapore Arrival Card, Vaccine Certificate, and Travel Insurance before our travel.

So here are my photos of the arrival and finally Jewel at Jewel Changi Airport! Thanks for the welcome signage, SG! hahaha just kidding.

In my next post, I will share to you my fun experiences in Universal Studio Singapore.
I felt so happy to see this familiar spot again since I just had a photo here back in 2016. So long!

Have a great day everyone! Until the next post! xx

Haler, Baler Aurora!

A big round of applause for Photo Travel Diary and my FIRST SOLO TRIP! :)

"We are here!" shout by our driver and tour guide Joe.
We arrived as early as six in the morning, that was fast.

Here's the map. :)

The moment I step out of the van to have some stretching and was still yawning, I saw this signage that poked me to wake up and said, "Haler, Baler!!"

Before the trip:

It was a great feeling to be in  pick up point in McDonald's Mindanao Avenue Edsa branch again I remember my Sagada trip. I had a very long Friday night. I was tired and got stuck with Makati traffic, while rushing to our mini reunion with my batch-mates and childhood friends in grade school, kissed Mom before I left and was sober while looking for the van and the driver. It was almost 12 midnight then. I was so excited for another long road trip, but really all I want was to rest and sleep for the entire trip.

I transferred to front seat when we started our tour.

Solo Traveler, but not forever

I was surprised! We were only seven girls inside the van and for the entire trip! It was so awesome! :) Okay, I want to be honest here: we were "seven" meaning I was the only solo and no friend with me. (sync sad song...) I invited some of my friends to join me, unfortunately no one can, so I moved on with my life and pursue this dream trip. I just want to experience to surf in Baler, that's all.

The first group photo of us, when our driver Kuya Joe asked us to pose. Oh-ha! Look how beautiful are these girls. :)

From left to right: Yvan and Teresa from Pampanga, Princess and Mitch from Quezon City and Raffy and Steph my new fave couple and from Manila. :) Okay, still out of place because I'm all the way from Cebu, but grew up in Manila.

We started with throwing jokes to Kuya Joe and throwing some "hugot" lines and sharing same sentiments. Here's the itinerary of our trip:

Ermita Hills

Panoramic view of Sabang Beach, Pacific Ocean, White Cross

Diguist Beach (Diguisit Rock Formation / Cobra Reef)

You can see these on the road all you have to do is to pull over and take photos, yay!

Isn't great to travel with friends? Picture perfect. :)

Dicasalarin Cove

Our tour guide dare us not to say, "wow!" when we will see the place. Unfortunately, we were failed.

This trip is optional. We all said, "yes!" and we didn't regret it, the place is so captivating and beautiful like "whooaa!" all you want to do is just stare and enjoy it!

Self-timer. Everyone was so busy taking photos too. :)

I can't wait to share more photos of this place. :) I will blog about this soon.

Lunch at Yolly's

We had our lunch at Yolly's we were all starving so I don't have a photo of our food. :) This is a self-service restaurant located in their proper town.

Carlito's Inn

After we had our lunch, Kuya Joe sent us to our respective inn's. Theresa and Yvan and I are in the same place while the rest are staying to other inn located in proper town.

Hello Room 101!

Selfie after power nap while waiting for our Van for our next itinerary.
and yes, I lost my earrings somewhere in the room. Ugh.

Clean and comfy, but you know you will not stay the entire day in a room.

and of course, I had a one bottle, I cannot break my habit of cheers for the night. Since I was solo, I was just inside my room and watching Master Chef! :)

Museo de Baler

Off to Museo de Baler at 3PM :)

Manuel L. Quezon

Dona Aurora Aragon Quezon House

Snacks! Ice cream sandwich.

So many good old books!

Baler Church and Plaza

Surfing in Sabang Beach

The highlight of my day! Wohooo! So happy that the girls also tried to surfed. I told them that it is so easy, fun and exciting that they should really try it since we are already in Baler. We arrived sunset sesh, I was afraid to missed out the sun and will turn into high tide.

According to them, I surfed for almost 2 hours! Whaaat?! I didn't notice the time because I was having fun. I am so grateful to have my first surfing lesson in Siargao Island, the best! I am still looking forward to go back to Siargao Island again.

Ditumabo Falls, San Luis, Aurora

The next day we had early check out and breakfast, then we proceed to San Luis Aurora for the adventure! I can't wait to see the Ditumabo Falls. The latest hiked and trekked was in Bomod-ok Falls in Sagada which was the hardest. Wow! :) We had a 1.8 KM walk reminds me of Kabigan Falls in Pagudpud, Ilocos Norte. We don't mind since I love adventure, the girls were so game about it too.

Photo shoot before hiking.

On our way to the falls.

Ditumabo Mother Falls! :)

Here's the Ditumabo Baby Falls.

Meet the Baler crew, we have a lot in common:
  • We booked our trip within the week.
  • Four of us have braces.
  • Mahilig mag-hugot lines.
  • We need to distressed.
  • and too many to mention,
Advantage is that someone can take photos of you and in return you can take photos of them.

Old Balete Tree (Millenium Tree in Asia)

After our falls, which we were very tired and had no time for lunch, our last stop was this Old Balete Tree Park. My energy was so low, but the photographer and guide was so energetic and asked me to do a lot of posed. Thanks, I love them.

Inside the Balete Tree

Going alone for a trip was a best decision ever! I met new people that turned out to be my friends.

I miss you all!

Thank you Klick Destination Travel and Tours for accepting my last minute booking and accepting me as a solo traveler. I like the way they organized the trip.  We had fun and enjoyed the trip.

Now planning for my next solo adventure!
